A Trader Personality
The Overtrader

The Overtrader

Trades too often — quantity over quality.

You're always in something. Not out of revenge or panic — out of an itch to act. But Barber & Odean's landmark study found the most active traders earned 11.4% vs the market's 17.9%: every extra trade beyond your edge is a small tax on your account. More clicks ≠ more money.

🧠 The behavioral bias

Action bias + overconfidence. Overtrading = taking trades your strategy never generated.

💪 Strengths
  • +Highly active and engaged
  • +Never misses a real setup
  • +Fast to execute
⚠️ Watch out for
  • Overtrading dilutes quality
  • Higher costs and slippage
  • Fatigue and tilt from volume

Frequently asked

What is the trader personality test?

A free 16-question self-assessment that estimates your trading archetype across 9 behavioral profiles used in the K.M.F. Trading Journal app — from the disciplined Sniper to the emotional Revenge Trader. It reveals your dominant behavioral bias and gives you three concrete fixes.

Do you store my answers or results?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your answers and result are saved only in your own browser (localStorage) so a page refresh does not lose them — nothing is ever sent to, or stored on, a server. There is no signup and no data collection.

How accurate is it?

It is a self-report estimate of the same trader archetypes the K.M.F. app computes automatically from your real trades (discipline, emotions, hold-time patterns, disposition effect). It is an excellent mirror and starting point — your true, data-driven profile comes from your actual trade history in the app.
